Calculating your age

What is an age calculator?

An age calculator turns your date of birth into your age in years, months, days, weeks and hours. You enter one date and immediately see how long you have been alive.

What separates one calculator from another is how it counts. Anything based on average years drifts by several days across a lifetime. This one uses the real calendar, including every leap year and every month of 28 to 31 days.

How do you calculate your exact age?

Your exact age is the number of complete years since your date of birth, plus the months and days that have passed since. Someone born on August 24, 1990 is exactly 36 years, 1 months and 16 days old on October 10, 2026.

So you never count in averages. Whole years first, then whole months from your last birthday, then the loose days. When the day of your birth month does not exist in the target month — 31 January in February, say — it moves to the last day of that month.

years since your date of birth → remaining whole months → remaining days

How many days old are you?

The number of days you have lived is the number of calendar days between your date of birth and today. Someone born on August 24, 1990 has lived 13,196 days as of October 10, 2026.

Every leap year is included, so 29 February counts as an ordinary day. Multiplying by 365 gives a different number: over fifty years that alone is more than twelve days out.

day number of today − day number of your date of birth

How many weeks old are you?

The number of weeks is the number of days lived divided by seven. For someone born on August 24, 1990 that is 1,885 full weeks and 1 days on October 10, 2026.

We never round up. A week only counts once it is complete; the remaining days are shown separately, so you can see both add up.

days lived ÷ 7 = whole weeks, with the remainder as loose days

How many months old are you?

The number of whole months is how many times the day of your birth has come round since you were born. For August 24, 1990 that is 433 on October 10, 2026.

That is not the same as dividing your days by 30. Months run from 28 to 31 days, so the counter ticks over on the day of the month you were born — not somewhere in between.

complete years × 12 + whole months since your last birthday

How many hours old are you?

The number of hours is the number of whole calendar days times 24. For August 24, 1990 the counter stands at 316,704 hours on October 10, 2026.

This is the only value that is an approximation, and there is a reason: we never ask for your time of birth. Someone born at 11pm had lived just one hour on their first day. Quoting a more precise figure would pretend to know something we do not.

days lived × 24

Does this work for very old dates of birth?

Yes, from 1 January 1900 onwards. Before that, calendars differed from country to country and any result would suggest a precision that is not there.

Can I calculate someone else’s age?

Yes. Just enter their date of birth. Nothing is stored, so you can do as many in a row as you like.

Birthdays & milestones

What day of the week were you born on?

The weekday of your birth is fixed in the calendar and never changes. Someone born on August 24, 1990 was born on a Friday.

There is a pattern to it: the same date shifts one weekday each year, and two after a leap year. That is why your birthday falls on your birth weekday again roughly once every seven years.

How many days until your next birthday?

Your next birthday is the next time your day and month come round. For August 24, 1990 that is August 24, 2027 — 318 days away, turning 37.

If this year’s birthday has already passed, the count runs on to next year. If it is today, the counter sits at zero and the countdown is over.

next date carrying your day and month − today

When will you be 10,000 days old?

Your 10,000th day falls a little over 27 years after you were born. Someone born on August 24, 1990 reached it on January 9, 2018.

Round day counts almost never land on a birthday, and that is precisely what makes them worth marking. You hit 1,000 days just after your second birthday, and 20,000 days shortly after your 54th.

date of birth + 10,000 days

How does a birthday on 29 February work?

Anyone born on 29 February has no real birthday in three years out of four. We use 1 March, the same line Dutch law takes for reaching an age.

There is no worldwide agreement on this: some countries settle on 28 February, others on 1 March. It makes no difference to the number of days lived — that simply counts on. It only affects the question of when you turn a year older.

What is a life milestone?

A milestone is a round number in your life that you would otherwise never notice: your 1,000th day, your 10,000th day, your 2,000th week. They almost never land on a birthday, which is exactly what makes them yours.

Can I share my card without my age?

Yes. Turn on “Hide personal numbers” in step 3 of the card. That removes your age, the number of days, your birth weekday and the countdown — because the number of days lived reconstructs your date of birth. Your own text and photos stay.

Accuracy & privacy

How precise are my Life Stats?

We count real calendar days rather than average years. Leap years, months of 28 to 31 days and daylight saving time are all accounted for, so the day count is exact.

Is my date of birth stored anywhere?

No. The calculation happens entirely on your own device. Your date of birth never reaches our servers, never appears in the link and is never saved. Refresh the page and it is gone.

Why are some values an approximation?

Only the hour count is an approximation: it is the number of whole calendar days times 24. We never ask for your time of birth, so a more precise number would pretend to know something we do not. Days, weeks, months and your age are exact.

Why does my result differ from another age calculator?

Usually because the other one uses average years of 365.25 days instead of the real calendar. Across a lifetime that drifts by several days. We count calendar days, so the total is exact to the day.

Do time zones and daylight saving affect the result?

They do not. We work with calendar dates rather than clock times — how long you have been alive is a calendar question. So moving the clock or flying to another time zone cannot change the answer.

Do I need an account?

No. The tool is free and works without signing in.

Life Stats does calendar maths. It says nothing about your health or life expectancy.
